Raised in the charismatic Catholic movement of the 1970s, Hector Uriarte first experienced music as a way to connect with faith, community, and cultural pride. Later, as a teenager, he joined a Latin rock band that toured the Central Valley, playing not just for churches but in dusty parking lots, street processions, and working-class neighborhoods across the Central Valley.

Hector wrote his own songs from the start—mixing faith, frustration, Chicano identity, and everyday life into music that moved between worship and protest. Inspired by 1970s Chicano rock, Latin jazz, and the spirit of the church community that raised him, his songs helped reclaim sacred traditions for a new generation. For Hector, music was—and still is—a way to stay grounded in faith, remember where you come from, and pass on a spiritual and cultural inheritance.
