Gregoria Sánchez is a self-taught corridista, former field worker, and long-haul truck driver whose music is shaped by lived experience, emotional honesty, and cultural memory. Born in Mexico and raised in Watsonville after migrating at sixteen, Gregoria built a life of resilience, earning diplomas in carpentry, welding, and computer literacy while working in male-dominated professions.

Gregoria writes songs rooted in real experiences—stories of love, grief, joy, and strength. Her compositions often arise in moments of solitude and reflect themes of motherhood, womanhood, and personal perseverance. Influenced by artists like Las Jilguerillas, Las Hermanas Huerta, and Antonio Aguilar, her music draws from traditional corrido and ranchera while offering a distinctly personal voice.

A highlight of her journey was singing on the same stage as Las Hermanas Huerta, a moment that affirmed her connection to the musical lineage she’s long admired. Her participation in the Corridos del San Joaquín contest marked a creative milestone. While she viewed the opportunity as a win in itself, she continues to hope her music will reach wider audiences and help support the people she loves.
