Layers of History + Peoples

Bayview-Hunters Point is one of San Francisco’s last African American neighborhoods, rich with the histories of the many communities which have called it home over time. Due to gentrification, displacement, and migration, the Bayview continues to be a site of change. This collection, which includes a short film by Tumani Onabiyi and an essay by ACTA’s Lily Kharrazi, situates Sounds of California: Bayview within the neighborhood’s past and present.
