Boyle Heights has a rich history of people and collectives who’ve organized for their communities. Most notable for its activism in rent control and preventing gentrification, there are also people who fight for the protection of the land (community gardeners, environmentalists, Native/Indigenous stewards), justice-seekers who are demanding to put a stop to the normalization of racism and anti-Blackness, and health advocates who aim to protect the health of their communities during a pandemic.
